JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT

 ANZ futureFERNS Year 1-2 Programme 


​​​​​​​The  futureFERNS Years 1 & 2 programme is held in Term 1.

Played on Monday afternoon from 3.30pm - 4.15pm

Individual entry fee: $50 per player

Starts Monday 19th Febuary  - Monday 8th April 2024 

All participants take part in a warm-up together and then are split into smaller groups.

Sessions consist of fundamental netball skills followed by a modified netball game.

Running the ANZ futureFERNS programme would not be possible without the assistance of our Star Helpers. Each year we look for people aged 15+ with an interest in learning to coach. You will receive all the information to help with coaching the sessions.  Please sign up to help!!!

Junior Pre-season Development Programmes

Prepare 2 Play Term 1  - These sessions are for boys and girls of all skill levels.

Year 3&4 -  Wednesday starting 21st Feb 3.45pm - 4.45pm

Year 5&6 will be on Monday starting 19th Feb 2024 4.30pm - 5.30pm 

$50 per person

Term 2 2024

FutureFERNS is designed to be fast and fun, maximising participation and touches of the ball. With modified equipment and less players on the court, in 6 v 6 the game is less complicated.

  • Competition Games will be played on Thursday Term 2 from 3.30pm - 6.30pm
  • Players register via the school who will enter a school team. ​​​​​​​
  • 6 v 6 (recommend 8 players per team)
  • Every player gets a half game
  • Played on a full size netball court
  • Play with a Size 4 ball
  • Goalposts at 2.6m
  • Games will be 32 minute duration – 4 x 7 minute quarters
  • Positions include A,C,D,
  • No results tables
  • Defaulting games - cost $100

Year 5&6 7Aside

  • 7v7( recommend 9 players per team)
  • Term 3 competition​​​​​​​
  • Each player gets half game
  • Goalpost at 3.05m
  • Postition include GK,GD,WD,WA,GA,GA
  • Thursday during Term 3 for 8 weeks in 2024 starting 25th July
  • Game times  starting from 3.30pm to 6pm

Junior Policy 2017​​​​​​​

  • All boys may play netball alongside girls up to the age of 12 (Year 8) without restriction.
  • For Year 7 & 8 PDP boys can participate in the development program.
  • All Year 7&8 games only one boy in each area of play i.e. GS or GA | WA, C, or WD | GD or GK.
